Programmed Languages

IEC-61131-3

IEC is the sister orginisation to the International Standards Organisation (ISO) based in Geneva.

IEC 61131-3 is the first real endeavour to standardise programming languages for industrial automation. This standard is gradually being used by the major PLC manuafacturers in their programming software.

IEC 61131-3 is the third part of IEC 61131, which consists of:
